Drake decided to spend his video budget for “God’s Plan” on something other than Birkin bags or Harry Potter books: He gave away almost $1 million intended for shooting and producing the video to people in need all around Miami. “The budget for this video was $996,631.90. We gave it all away. Don’t tell the label,” reads an opening title card. Drake appears throughout as his own kind of soft-boy God, giving out literal wads of cash, signing oversize checks, and dancing with the youth. As with all things Drake, the thirst is real, but the video is filled with such genuine joy, relief, and gratitude that it’s hard not to love him for it.

As previously documented while he filmed in Miami earlier in the month, Drake performed a myriad of good deeds during the shoot: He donated $25,000 to Miami Senior High School and filmed above a giant mass of students there on a crane; he gave one University of Miami student a $50,000 scholarship check; he went to a Miami supermarket and bought shoppers $50,000 in groceries, and gave another $50,000 to a women’s shelter. Filmed by Karena Evans, the Canadian Good Samaritan called the video “the most important thing I have ever done in my career” in a post on Instagram. In the OVO universe, God’s plan is, apparently, doing good and looking adorable.
